Boris Johnson is stepping down as British prime minister because his own Conservative party — dozens of cabinet ministers and Members of Parliament — publicly revolted against his unethical conduct.
It started with “Party Gate”, when Johnson broke his own government’s COVID-19 lockdown rules by attending a birthday party for himself, as well as a “bring your own booze” party in the garden at 10 Downing Street at the start of the pandemic.
It ended with him failing to take appropriate disciplinary action with regard to allegations of unethical conduct by the party’s then deputy chief whip, Chris Pincher, accused of groping two men at a private members’ club in London.
And now, Johnson is resigning.
Think about that for a moment.
Now think about the number of times Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has engaged in unethical conduct where Liberal cabinet ministers and MPs have never revolted.
Not when Trudeau admitted he wore racist Blackface so many times, including as a 29-year-old adult and a teacher, that he can’t remember how many times he did it.
Not when Trudeau was twice found guilty of violating the federal Conflict of Interest Act.
The first time for accepting free gifts from the Aga Khan while his government was considering taxpayer funding for his charitable foundation.
